Abstract

The National Care Policy is on the agenda and women are the protagonists of jobs in this area. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of care became even more evident: from one day to the next, families who could previously count on outsourcing some part of the care work found themselves forced to provide full-time care. to its dependent members. Reconciling career with care is a challenge for women and this is the object of Claudia Goldin's book, recently released in Brazil, Career and Family (2024) in which the author states that there is no reason for women to be the first to open give up their careers so that the family can settle down.  We will present this topic of women's careers and family care in the context of development in the state of Rio de Janeiro, our objective is to show the topic as a research proposal. Our methodology is bibliographical research on the topic of care, as well as the problem highlighted above, by Claudia Goldin (2024), and by Victoria Camps (2021).
