Building Worlds THE WORLD-BUILDING TECHNIQUE IN ROLE-PLAYING GAMES

Abstract
World-building in fiction in the contemporary world is something constantly talked about and commented on, explored by different areas and methodologies, in formal or informal means, however, there are few or non-existent looks at a contemporary tool of fiction making: the famous role-playing games (RPG's). These games, having a transmedia and transauthorial character, dialogue with several of the most traditional protocols of fiction making, however, they promote the manifestation of new techniques in world-building and simultaneously dialogue with elements of classical antiquity, which is the resumption of the tradition of orality, of “ make-believe” and collaborative storytelling. Based on various theoretical expositions, we sought to present in a general overview and summarize the possibilities of applicability and theorization of world-building in its generalist sense in RPG and, at the same time, not abandoning the possible specific proximities that this new medium of making fiction they have. Thus, going from the formal means of forms and content published by the publishers responsible for producing content for this fictional production to the informal means of the sphere of playing per se of active players, understanding the influence of the RPG master on the role played by the responsible players. for incorporating the protagonists of that world, in which the functions of both in the world-building of these variable and unexplored imaginary worlds are perceived.
