TRAILS AND LEGACY: reflections and contributions of CLAM on the study of gender and sexuality

This article presents the comments I made at Sergio Carrara’s conference, at the event commemorating the twenty-second anniversary of the Latin American Center for Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM). Reflecting on my academic trajectory and CLAM’s role in promoting research on sexuality and sexual rights in Colombia, I address the context of the Center’s emergence and its role throughout the first decades of the 2000s. More than a center for studies, research, and information dissemination, CLAM has been a meeting point and a fundamental node in a complex network of relationships and collaborations woven by academics and activists across Latin America. I also analyze the challenges that the current context imposes on the Center’s activities, among which I highlight that knowing how to listen to new demands concerning sexuality that arise from axes
