The article constitutes a hermeneutic-phenomenological approach to The Lilies of the Field and the Birds of the Sky, written by Kierkegaard. The first section shows that, being a consciousness open to both eternity and temporality, the individual has the ability to worry about tomorrow. The second section offers a phenomenological description aimed at showing that the pagan and the christian inhabit the world in a radically different way: from the care of sustenance and trust in God. The third section is a brief phenomenology of faith, the purpose of which is to reveal the relationship that the christian establishes with finite goods linked to self-preservation. The thesis to be demonstrated is that christianity is the only form of existence that frees man from the care of sustenance.
