Abstract

The performance of the sacrament of Anchieta and Vieira reveals a dialogic of colonization. Popular culture is revisited in rituals that bring together writers, actors and spectators. Combining literature and performance, it is possible to reevaluate this period in dialogue with the ephemeral nature of orality (Zumthor), the liminality (Turner) and the carnivalized Catholicism (Bakhtin) in Luso-Brazilian soil.
