Da neutralidade à ação social: os papéis da contabilidade como prática social e discursiva

O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar uma discussão acerca da contabilidade como prática social e discursiva e dos papéis que ela desempenha no meio social. Essa perspectiva está alinhada aos estudos que questionam o caráter meramente informacional da linguagem contábil e a compreendem como uma prática discursiva que opera na criação da realidade social. Para desenvolver o trabalho, apresentamos discussões acerca da contabilidade como prática social e sua atuação na mediação da ação social, além de estudos sobre os papéis que a contabilidade assume nos contextos em que se faz presente. Entendendo que a contabilidade possui fins ideológicos que podem ser apropriados em contextos de conflito, argumentamos que as teorias linguísticas pós-estruturalistas, especialmente aquelas vinculadas à análise do discurso, fornecem arcabouço teórico-metodológico para abordar questões que envolvem a contabilidade como prática social. Como prática discursiva, a contabilidade pode assumir diferentes significados que sustentam perspectivas conflitantes de acordo com as relações de poder, operando na mediação de interesses divergentes e criando uma estrutura simbólica mediante a qual o discurso ocorre e a ação pode ser alcançada. Assim, o foco das pesquisas na área deve direcionar-se para o entendimento da maneira como a contabilidade se incorpora nos diversos campos da vida social, por meio da análise discursiva dos usos da linguagem contábil e dos papéis que a contabilidade assume.
