The research problem of this article is to understand the role of tidal and wave energy in maritime safety and energy security in the United Kingdom and Brazil, as such concepts are closely related due to the increased search and use of energy resources in the ocean. The article was prepared based on the construction of a documentary and comparative analysis of the respective potentials and projects related to tidal and wave energy, involving the United Kingdom and Brazil. As a result, it was possible to understand that the United Kingdom depends more than Brazil in the short term on tidal and wave energy to improve energy security and maritime security due to some issues such as high levels of gas imports and the existence of a major conflict that puts pressure on prices.
