O conceito de soft power atualmente domina praticamente todas as análises da política internacional, nas quais o fator cultural é evocado. Joseph S. Nye, preocupado em encontrar uma solução para o declínio relativo dos Estados Unidos, enunciado por Paul Kennedy, foi quem elaborou esse novo conceito. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar como o chamado soft power foi apresentado e integrado nos pressupostos da abordagem teórica realista clássica.
ABSTRACT
Today, the concept of soft power dominates practically all international policy analyses, with culture being evoked as a factor at play. Joseph S. Nye, seeking a solution for the relative decline of the United States foretold by Paul Kennedy, was the person who developed this new concept. The aim of this article is to analyse how soft power has been presented to and integrated with the assumptions in the theoretical approach of classical realism.
