Abstract

The aim of this paper is to raise a comparative analysis of the fictional treatment given to the city of Jerusalem in two fictional works by Moacyr Scliar; the short story “A Balada do Falso Messias” and the novel Os Voluntários. In these works one can perceive that, following a tendency of the Jewish literature worldwide, there is a dessacralization and reification of the Holly City, fact that points to the legitimacy given to the diaspora life.
