When people hear "antique furniture," different images come to the mind.
This could be a mid-century modern dining table, solid
chests of drawers or elegant Queen Anne bedroom furniture.
Each idea can create an emotional response.
This could lead to the development of opinions which then leads to decisions about the
best way to decorate our homes. For some, antique furniture has a plethora of other negative connotations.
Some people may immediately consider antique furniture to be old, worn-out, tacky
or outdated. The antiques look like something that is distinctive, and
often it's lacking. Particularly, rare, difficult-to-find
pieces from the 18th or 19th centuries have a prestige
which is difficult to achieve with contemporary furniture.
There are many reasons to choose antique furniture instead of modern, mass-produced pieces.
