The storyplot originates in the ancient analogue of China, 123movies which survived the invasion of any certain magical substance that turns all life into stone. Within this unequal struggle, the dragons were the only hope. They enclosed their ability in a very sphere that may drive these creatures away, but they also themselves taken on stone. After 500 years, people were broken into five tribes. One of those was crowned the keeper in the sphere. But scattered peoples cannot tolerate this, wanting to get it too. The rebellion caused the sphere to separate, freeing the demons outward. Now the young warrior Raya needs to obtain the last dragon and save people.
The cartoon evokes ambiguous feelings. On the one hand, incredible redness and magic in the east. However, the insipid main character and chaotic plot, which chooses the laziest strategy to introduce the viewer towards the world. And this is usually a sea of exposure. The primary 20 minutes simply bombard you with all the lore in the universe, each dialogue in somehow explains one and other part of the story. Only in the end of the initial act, situation begins to breathe deeply, freed from the necessity to explain everything.
Actually, this can be a very basic and told often times story of collecting aspects of a magical artifact that should fix everything. The heroine contains a bitter enemy, a couple of eccentric assistants, she gets a sweet animal. Each of the elements are familiar for the viewer, so there's nothing to surprise with, with the exception of an unexpectedly strong ending.
Great visuals nowadays seem to be the norm for large-scale projects, especially Disney. Working with light, physics and elaboration of details is aerobatics. The entire world is realized brightly, and skillfully delineates tribes and territories.
But all at once, it is safe and ideal for any movie viewer, the figures from the heroes will be successful with children, unobtrusive humor is not going to offend anyone, it's going to press on the necessary emotional points and on the right moment will confirm when you are able cry. A pure and uncompromising studio product, behind which there is no soul, everything matches already figured out templates that can be rearranged, changed the setting and you will get a new film.
There is absolutely no ideological conflict, therefore a drama, everything lies on top, everything that you might want will be said and over once, so they won't be forgotten. "Raye" simply is not to express to the viewer, the cartoon would not seek advice, the heroine seriously isn't confronted by moral dilemmas, a simple quest that focuses only around the visual.
As a sweet and entertaining product, the cartoon does its job. But my problem, for a viewer, is inside my expectations: a desire to view a robust female character, topics that is to be of curiosity to both a youngster and a adult, that once no more the viewing, something will remain with you.
But when you have the principle and only passage that you have to trust people and it all relies on this, you understand that history isn't worthy of scale which is purchased it and ambitions do not justify themselves. This project is a particular indicator that Disney needs to focus on pushing boundaries in lieu of going back to proven formulas.
