High Performance Titanium Ball Valve

Titanium Ball valve: Are you using one? If not then here is what you should know about these special valves. They help regulate the production of water and are used in a variety of industries and water control applications. In fact, they are widely used in various hydraulic systems and in fluid transportation systems to regulate the movement of fluids through pipelines. They are mainly found in waste water handling facilities, hydraulic plants, oil wells, processing plants, chemical plants, petroleum refineries, water treatment plants, and others.


There are various companies that make these valves. The first company that made them with a 3 inch PVC pipe was K&N Heating and Air Inc. In 1980, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) named this unique design standard after K&N because it was more durable and did not limit the amount of pressure the ball could withstand before wearing out. The standard was later incorporated into the ENERGY STAR program. This type of valve is called a ball-and-cone valve. The reason why titanium ball-and-cones were chosen over standard ball valves is because they allow for more resistance to wear and tear compared to standard ones. Aside from being highly resistant to wear and tear, these valves also can be installed with a variety of flanges and ports depending on its application.


K&N designed their 3 way ball valves with both a top-mounted port for gravity flow and a bottom-mounted port for oil or coolant flow. Their ball valves also have variable port configurations and can support either a full-swing swing or a continuous loop. Some other advantages of the K&N ball valve are that they do not change resistance levels, they are very robust, have great corrosion resistance and also will not get clogged with hair, dirt and grease like other valves.


Ball and cone valves are generally used in applications where a constant pressure is required. Some examples include oil and gas turbines, desuperheaters, furnaces, diesel engines and marine applications. K&N also makes a grade 2 high strength steel ball valve, which has an improved bearing geometry than their previous grade 1 product. They are now using a two-piece construction with two rings instead of a single ring. A grade 2 high strength titanium ball valve is available in several different configurations.

The Class A processing facility is used for high volume production and provides the company with the same high quality product that is used for the Prohibited Pit product. The Class A facility also incorporates technology advancements that have been deemed necessary for these types of ball valves.
