This will surely help in tackling complicated Math problems later on in school. Teach your child to ask "Is there another way of solving?" when he or she cannot understand one explanation. This will help them realize that failure to understand does not mean they are stupid.

Young children can play Simon Says, by saying that Simon Says- what is 1 plus 1? Get the children to go as far as they can without stopping. At first they may not get as high as you would like for them to, but it is a start.

Buzz is a counting game that has been played by kids for ages. It can quickly become a Halloween math game just by changing the word 'buzz' to a Halloween word. You might like to use 'Dracula', 'Boo' or 'trick or treat'. Start with multiples of seven being the banned numbers that have to be replaced by the buzz word.

2nd tip: Introduce the history of math to your child, when certain math inventions were made and by whom, what were the circumstances or need for the invention. How is math used through out the world.

There are people who don't realize the clear parallels between learning math and learning many other skills. It goes without saying, that to be good at math takes practice. We learn to multiply, add, subtract, and divide by practicing these skills hundreds or thousands of times. We weren't born knowing how to multiply single and double digits numbers in our heads. We learned this through many hours of practice. Math worksheets are a simple, effective, and proven way to teach kids math. They are used by millions of children and in hundreds of thousands of classrooms every day. With the advent of the internet, one more opportunity to practice is only a click away.

Want to play chess. Many of us do not care about mental math games, or care if we play a strategy game. The potential for winning and developing character through playing a strategy game is tremendous. If you are a potential chess player develop a mindset winning, do not get caught up in fearing to fail. Get over it, realize that you will fail at times, but use chess problems as a stepping stone to make changes in your thinking so you will have a desire to do your best, develop the best game strategy that you can, and start winning. Many players really believe they cannot win. That is not applying good math concepts or even life principles because it is not based on truth. There will be players that are better than you, but not everyone and not every time. Think about that.

Let me share you my story. I have a daughter named Sarah who has a problem understanding math. Every time I see her grade, I really feel guilty because I am not doing anything to help her and be improved in Math. And not to mention I am a math teacher. I was so busy that time due to lots of work in school and aside from that, I was working on some very important legal matters. I tried to hire a private Math tutor, but not successful because her tutor just told me that she has no initiative to learn Math. I asked my daughter why she hates Math.

Because there is a deficit of engineers, and fundamental math skills may be lacking in public school graduates, homeschoolers have the advantage. We can provide the math students need to succeed. Our children can earn grants and scholarships for college based on their math preparation.
