Abstract

This work seeks to understand how the advanced tertiary sector (digital technological knowledge, R&D) advances in the Argentine productive structure, especially in industry, as part of the profound global productive restructuring of the capitalist system.

Economic outsourcing, as a global process, responds to a structural change, and the trend is towards a productive specialization that now demands greater technological complexity in both material and immaterial terms (urban communications infrastructure such as fiber optics, high-speed internet, satellite communication, 5G, high-performance computing equipment, digital platforms and systems, selectivity of labor qualification, R&D, among others).

Various studies show a growing integration between industry and services, with increasingly outsourced industries that demand specialized services within and outside their scope of production.

Analyzing this phenomenon is relevant, since the tertiary sector is explanatory of a large number of activities, and corresponds to a particular form of international and internal division of labor in each country. At the same time, the expansion of the advanced tertiary sector into industries brings with it a reorganization of productive, social and territorial structures, evidencing profound transformations not only in the industrial sector, but also in the regions where this sector is relevant.
