This article explores the complex relationship between nightlife and urban culture, challenging the journalistic narrative of its decline. It addresses the perception of a crisis based on generational changes and examines the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated trends of isolation and affected the nighttime economy. The text emphasizes the importance of nocturnal public spaces for democracy and the expression of social groups, highlighting how violence and mobility difficulties impact people's decision to go out at night. It concludes that the discussion about urban nightlife must go beyond prejudices, focusing on solutions for insecurity and accessibility that affect coexistence in cities.
