Abstract
The aim of this research proposal is to evaluate how Cyberpunk conceives Postmodernism, especially in its most recent works. To do so, the article wishes to investigate how the genre has embraced 21st century society, specifically with a focus on analyzing the configurations of the characters and the process of rejection of the Other. Since the genesis of Cyberpunk, the body has been an object of study and has been exhaustively evaluated from the point of view of contact with the Other, with the Self and with the surroundings of postmodern cities. However, in Postmodernism, in order to remain relevant, the genre has had to undergo changes in order to embrace the different subjectivities/souls and the loss of these within the inescapable logic of capital. Thus, our aim is to provide an interpretation of the film Blade Runner 2049 as an example of this more recent format for the genre, based on a simple premise: if the soul exists, it has little chance of survival for the bodies of the 21st century. The contributions of Haraway (2016), Han (2017), Shanahan (2020) and Zizek (2021) will be used to support this inquiry.
