Algumas considerações sobre as análises psicopatológicas na descrição do fenômeno percebido em Fenomenologia da Percepção de Merleau-Ponty

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the analyses of psychopathology present in Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception. Taking into account the fact that it was not in the French philosopher's interest to elaborate a psychopathology per se, it is up to this work to clarify Merleau-Ponty's meaning and motivations in the analysis of clinical cases and morbid states. As will be discussed throughout the article, Merleau-Ponty sought to analyse pathological cases throughout his work, taking them as an opportunity to suspend certain assumptions of psychological theories of perception and to show, through a phenomenological description, the original dimension of the organisation of perceptual experience in its pre-reflective dimension. Thus, it was not so much a matter of presenting an explanatory theory about the causes of certain pathological conditions, but rather of taking the pathology itself as a case to describe, from it, the fundamental structures of being-in-the-world.
