In ALCOFF 2003, Linda Martin Alcoff proposes an evaluation of Gadamer's phenomenological hermeneutics from a feminist perspective. More than just a feminist interpretation of the author, she also proposes a lucid analysis of the largely unfavourable reception of his contributions within feminist philosophical literature, highlighting, as a rebuttal to this type of opinion, the potential of Gadamer's thought for feminist purposes. This article proposes an interpretative reconstruction and analysis of Alcoff's argumentative path in this text. The motivation for carrying out this task is to make visible the solidity of a surprisingly marginal position in feminist philosophical literature - namely, that according to which there is no necessary incompatibility between feminist thought and the central guidelines of Gadamer's phenomenological hermeneutics.
