This article examines, through the lens of the philosophy of technology with a phenomenological approach as proposed by Don Ihde and Albert Borgmann, the historical case of the use of radio during the Algerian Revolution. It is an event discussed by the Martinican philosopher Frantz Fanon, addressing colonial power relations and the resistance movement through the use of technology. It is argued that the appropriation of radio by Algerians transcended Ihde's four categories of technological transfer, pointing to a limitation in his theory and suggesting a new perspective through Borgmann's philosophy. We contend that the phenomenon of technology, when associated with power relations, requires the visibility of devices to enable the movement of resistance, redefining the foundations of the relationship between technology and culture.
